CHARITY

We are grateful to all of the great spiritual masters of the past — physical embodiments of the teachings who have worked tirelessly to train their students so that their lineages could remain unbroken until this present day. We are particularly grateful to our personal living mentors who selflessly guide us in this time of turmoil and confusion. In order to try to repay some of their immense kindness in a small way, Samaya Designs and its owners offers financial support to the projects of various teachers and organizations, including Anyen Rinpoche, Mangala Shri Bhuti, Thrangu Rinpoche's "Himalayan Children's Project" and The Khyentse Foundation. These groups are involved in various charitable activities in the East as well as the preservation of the Buddhist teachings in the West. To learn more about them, you may read below or visit their websites at:

If you have questions, please contact us at info@samayadesigns.com.

Our charitable contributions go to support:

  • Anyen Rinpoche, a young Amdo Tibetan lama living in Colorado whose projects include paying for the education of girls who normally do not have that privilege in his village; the improvement of the monastery of his root teacher, Tsara Dharmakirti in Tibet; and eventually the large project of creating a shedra (traditional monastic school) in America for Western children. For information, see www.anyenrinpoche.org.
  • Mangala Shri Bhuti: the Tibetan Buddhist organization run by the venerable Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, based in Colorado. Rinpoche, the heart son of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche works tirelessly to support the study of the dharma in the West through his extensive teachings, support of students in retreat, and programs for Tibetan translators. In addition, he travels personally to famous Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India annually with a group of his students to make offerings to the temples and to directly give money, food, and blankets to the villagers in the area. This is done in a thoughtful and thorough manner so that those truly in need are able to receive the donations. For more information, see www.mangalashribhuti.org.
  • Thrangu Rinpoche: Thrangu Rinpoche is one of the most respected living masters and scholars of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the primary tutor of the 17th Karmapa in Dharamsala and also travels and teaches widely in the West. He supports many projects in both the East and West, including the Himalayan Child Fund which sends poor children in Nepal to boarding school; the Thrangu Tara Abbey, a nunnery in Nepal for Buddhist nuns; and the construction of the Vajra Vidya retreat center for Western dharma practitioners in Crestone, Colorado. For more information, see www.rinpoche.com.
  • The Khyentse Foundation: founded by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, a highly regarded teacher who teaches the Buddha's vision of wisdom and compassion worldwide. The Khyentse Foundation has focused on five projects for patronage: An endowment fund to support for monastic colleges in Tibet, India, and Bhutan that place emphasis on higher philosophical studies and long-term retreat; a scholarship fund for students who wish to study Buddhadharma through attending teachings or undertaking retreats; a publication fund to make Buddhist texts available to all who wish to study the dharma; an education program with emphasis on innovations in education systems worldwide based on Buddhist principles of compassion and nonviolence coupled with academic excellence; and establishing university professorships to promote the academic study of Buddhism.
