The Tibetan flag (or Snow Lion flag) was introduced in 1912 by the 13th Dalai Lama. At the tip of the snow mountain, the sun shining in all directions represents the enjoyment of freedom, spiritual and material happiness, and prosperity by all beings in the land of Tibet. The snow lions represent the country's accomplishment of a unified spiritual and secular life. The reverse side is engraved with "FREE TIBET".
